NAMI Wakulla Offers Mental Illness Recovery Support Groups

Join Us - It's free for everyone

What's a person to do after coming to terms with a diagnosis of mental illness?

Often the jolting news of mental illness leaves a person with the diagnosis reluctant to take a first step toward recovery and puts family and friends in a state of confusion.

Members of NAMI Connection, along with mental health professionals, will be on hand to discuss:

NAMI Connection is a recovery support group led by Wakulla County people with mental illness for people in Wakulla County with mental illness.

"We are excited that we can offer, not one, but two recovery support group meetings every week as a free service for people with mental illness," said Susie Tooke, president of NAMI Wakulla.

Turnout for NAMI Connection has been so popular that NAMI Wakulla expanded meetings to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Wakulla County Library and 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the NAMI Wakulla office on Crawfordville Highway.

The Monday night program will also have NAMI Wakulla volunteers on hand to answer questions from the audience.

NAMI Wakulla's monthly meetings are free and open to the public; Monday's meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordville Woman's Club.
